The Magic of Family Photography at Home: Summer Memories with the Pasternaks
There’s something truly magical about summer family sessions, especially when they unfold in the warmth of a beloved home. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the Pasternak family, and it was an experience filled with energy, laughter, and beautiful moments.
Upon arriving at their charming house, I was greeted by two energetic boys and their adorable baby brother. From the start, it was clear that this session would be filled with personality! The boys were bubbling with excitement, eager to show me their favorite things, including their caterpillars! Next, we headed into the nursery where the boys cuddled in the crib for some sweet brotherly moments, something they do together every morning.
The Pasternaks’ home was a photographer’s dream, with beautiful backdrops at every turn. The sunlit sunroom on the back porch was bathed in natural light, it became the perfect spot for some intimate family cuddles and playful interactions. This is one of their favorite spots to hang as a family, so it was a must! There were plenty of tickles and giggles, which made for some candid moments that perfectly reflected their lively spirits. Mom even had a cozy little nursing session with baby brother, so sweet.
The stunning green wall in their backyard was another highlight, it provided a vibrant canvas that just made them pop, our favorite type of organic backdrop! After portraits by the green wall, we headed back into the house, needed to get out of the heat phew! The boys jumped on the bed which was a huge hit! It was a great way to get the energy out.
As we wrapped up the session, we took a break on the front porch for some ice cream. It was the perfect way to cool off and wind down after all the jumping and playing. The boys’ faces were painted with joy and ice cream as they indulged in their sweet treats, perfect summer vibes!
The hydrangeas in the front yard added that extra summery feel, creating a lovely setting to snap a few more family portraits and some of mom and the boys. Of course I had to snap some of the oldest boy doing what they love to do, finding interesting pebbles in the driveway!
While there were moments when the boys needed a little coaxing to cooperate like all kids do, the session was all about letting them be themselves. It’s in these genuine, unfiltered moments that true memories are made, and I loved capturing the essence of their family dynamic.
The Pasternak family session reminded me of the beauty of everyday life—the laughter, the cuddles, and even the messiness. It’s these moments that create lasting memories, and I feel privileged to have captured a slice of their story. As we head into fall, I look forward to more sessions filled with joy, energy, and love.
