A Morning at Grosse Point Lighthouse

At the Morros Photography, we specialize in capturing unforgettable moments with families. Our recent session at Grosse Point Lighthouse was no exception. When it comes to family photography, there's nothing quite like the magic of capturing a family's journey through different stages of life. Last October, I had the pleasure of photographing one such family, the Sealys, at the Grosse Point Lighthouse in Evanston, Illinois, and it was an absolute delight. With a stylish, rambunctious 4-year-old, Lucia, leading the way, the session was full of laughter, playfulness, and heartwarming moments.

The morning started with the Grosse Point Lighthouse bathed in soft, golden light. The lighthouse, standing tall and elegant, provided a timeless backdrop against the serene October sky. The cool, crisp air of the fall morning added a refreshing touch, making it the perfect setting for a family photo session. This place truly is a top favorite location for sessions in Chicago.

The star of the show was vivacious Lucia with a flair for style. Dressed in a cute outfit, with her doll and little painted fingernails, she was ready to make the most of the day. Her energy was infectious, and her playful spirit set the tone for a fun and lively session. She definitely reminded me of our daughter, all of the energy!

One of the key elements of our sessions is embracing a child-led approach. Allowing the Lucia to take the lead ensured that the photos captured her genuine expressions and interactions. She spent time playing in the sand and running under a cozy blanket, creating whimsical and candid moments that truly reflected the joy of the day.

The Sealys also enjoyed some hot chocolate together, a perfect treat for a chilly October morning. Sipping on warm beverages, they shared smiles and laughter, and these simple, yet meaningful moments were captured in our photographs.

As photographers, our goal is to create a stress-free environment where families can relax and enjoy the session. By letting the little one lead and focusing on natural interactions, we ensure that every family member feels comfortable and at ease. This approach not only results in more authentic images but also makes the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.

This session was particularly special as we have had the honor of photographing this wonderful family since they got engaged. Watching them grow from newlyweds to parents has been a truly rewarding experience. They are some of the nicest people you could meet—always gracious, kind, and a joy to work with. It's no wonder they often look like models in their photos!

One of my favorite moments from the session was capturing Randy in his element—running after his little girl who decided to make a break for it. It's a classic scene we always capture and it adds such a playful touch to their gallery. His chase, her laughter, and the spontaneous joy of the moment are what make family photos so special and memorable.

This family session at Grosse Point Lighthouse was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do. The combination of a stunning location, a spirited child, and a loving family made for an unforgettable morning. From the sand play to the blanket games and hot chocolate, every moment was filled with happiness and love.
